#pugs501   i live in INDia got nothin as a micro center any other solutions................

The only option that I can recommend would be to ship it internationally and pay anywhere from $300 to $1200 USD for the service.

Yep.  Glue little balsa wings to it, see how far it glides when you throw it out the window.  ;)

Data recovery services (if you can find one that doesn't involve mailing it half way around the world) tend to be uber expensive. Unless the data is very important to you deep six the drive and chalk the lost data down to learning that you should have current back-ups (maybe even one off-site depending on level of paranoia/value of data).

There are a few 'hail-mary' methods for getting data from a dying hard drive such as putting the drive in the freezer (drive is useless after that though). But basically your SOL.

You can do data recovery yourself, All you need is another PC you plug your HDD to and data recovery software which is available for free on the web.

The success of the process only depends on the damage done to the HDD.

Hey GVAC98,

Before resorting to a data recovery, I would try the drive on another already working computer (externally or internally) and run a diagnostic tool to see why the drive crashed and if the data is recoverable. I would recommend using the manufacturer's tool. If the drive has indeed irreversibly crashed, I would also recommend contacting data recovery companies. They should be listed on your manufacturer's website. Do have in mind that such services tend to be expensive.
