best laptop for browsing the web/school work?

This will be my standing setup on a podium at home and my school laptop for notes and schoolwork so all I want is a HDMI (full) port, good battery life, windows 7+. Doesn't need a good screen because it will hook up to my TV (via HDMI)

I wouldn't know an exact one, but I had a good net book good for just this. It was the ASUS X401a Transformer book. It's DEFINITELY not the best. But it's cheap and is great for school work and browsing the web. Here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834231360

Does it have to be windows? Because my Toshiba Chromebook 2 is excellent and didn't cost to much.

The Chromebooks are cheap but are more based around browsing, less of taking notes. 

 

I assume he wants windows because commonly with school they give you copies of things like MS word and related programs, so that may be why he wants windows specifically. If he says he wants windows I think he is pretty dead set on windows.

Downloading programs from CNet is not a good idea, as they will commonly include unwanted, and sometimes dangerous bloatware... The more you know.
