Well i will be mainly using it for listen to music on the go and with my computer

My question would be that i already have a CKN50 by audio technica and a g430 by logitech

Would the m40x be a worthy investment?

I'd go for the M50s over the M40X

The m40x is a better value & has a removable cable and the updated pads that come with the m50x.

Well the m50s here are $238SGD

m50x $228 SGD (WTF M50X IS CHEAPER THAN M50)

while m40x is 128SGD$

Then yes, the m40x is BY FAR a better choice, they sound virtually identical.

Ah but with my current audio setup would it be worth it to get the m40x?

I am by no means an audiophile but i enjoy music quite alot!

If you were in my shoes what would you do?

IMO m40X sounds boring even with warm sounding Fiio X1, the vocal is too laid back for my taste.

Hmmmm do you own a pair of m40x? :o

it was when I audition the unit in audio store long enough to finish a whole coldplay album without people around cos I arrive very early. In the end end up ordering superlux HD440

I just feel the bass is not quite there and quite energizing as I would like to hear.

There's a large mid-bass valley in an otherwise V-shaped headphone, that's probably what you're hearing.

For rap song and typical Jpop I would recommend the ones with words like "forward vocal", "warm", or "nice midrange"

Recently I found that recent Jpop artists hardly invest in good recording, some are good but not in the level of Utada Hikaru or Ayumi Hamasaki recording. So you want to cut off some nasty spike with warm sound signature.

Sounds (heh geddit) like i shouldnt invest in a m40x... D:

They say that the more balance the headphones are the better right?

I personally like how the beats sound (knowing how they are on the graph V shaped) and i would had gotten them (if they didnt cost like 3 human hearts)

I finally someone with similar ear :D .

The beats that I audition in the same day I audition M40X sounds more my liking. More controlled bass, listening Coldplay "Sky full of stars" became so lively.

I personally own ATH WS55X, they sound quite balanced with more controlled bass and forward vocal. But they are uncomfortable as hell, can't wear them more 2 hours.

I like how the bass sorta "overpowers" the song in such a way that it makes your blood boil when you listen to EDMs :D
