Building my first rig, help please

Hi guys

Im building my first custom PC and i would like to hear what you think, your opinions about this system :)

Tell me if i could improve anything or get any other parts so it would work better etc...

Please note: Im currently at 1200€ and I'm not prepaired to go any further :)

Here it is:

Case: Aerocool Strike X Air (I really like this case, but will there be dust problem?)

MB: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P

PSU: Corsair ATX 600W cx2

CPU: AMD FX-8350 (I'll oc it to at least 4,5Ghz)

Cooler: Zalman CNPS12X(will it do for overclocking?)

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 superclocked

RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB 1866 DDR3

HDD: Intenso 2TB

SSD: Kingston HyperX Fury 240GB

Best regards

I'd suggest going with an intel processor for a gtx 970. That FX 8350 may bottleneck the 970 in certain games.

thanks guys, but Intel cpu's are so expensive :| even the i5's are expensive, don't even talk about i7 :)

+ Intel MB's are also way more expensive than the AMD ones

bottleneck it? i saw many guys with 8350 + GTX 980, one dude even had 2 980's with the 8350 :)

how about  tihs?

Yes you saw them, and they were suffering from bottlenecks.

Intel seem more expensive but they're better value for money.

I'd definitely go for an i5 over an FX chip. I just downgraded from an 8350 to an i3 so that I could migrate to the LGA 1150 socket for future upgrades.

Get the cheapest I5, or a decent I3 maybe and upgrade to an I5 in the future.

AMD are inexpensive yes, but the performance per core is lacking. And gaming doesn't make use of multiple cores. So you want the most efficient cores possible, not just more cores.

yea i know intel beats AMD pretty damn much in single core performance

and yes, when i game i allways have only the game opened, maybe Chrome from time to time

ok, the cheapest i5, but what about the MB?

I have to agree with everyone else i had an fx 6100 while not as good as an 8350 i was getting bottlenecks.

i found a 4690k for $215 on amazon and fractal 650w psu for $49.99 on directron and i know you get a cheap msi z97 board i think mine was sub $100

I know your not American so these prices may not apply to you not sure what the prices are Euros

if you can spare $20 go for the z97 u3 plus thats the one i bought

Euro prices: cpu 189.99

psu: 44.15

motherboard: 88.32

its GE (pause) TechNicks

Motherboards don't affect performance beyond what they let you plug into the board and whatever features they have that might let you overclock (if that was something you wanted to do). Thing is overclocking isn't really cost-effective unless you have a ton of cash to invest in performance cooling, so it's best avoided, especially since it's your first build.

You can pretty much get away with the cheapest motherboard that'll let you plug in what you want to plug into it. (e.g. The cheaper the motherboard the fewer sata connectors etc. and some might not have RAID functions, etc.)

As for cores. New triple A games are benefiting from four cores these days, but you can get away with duel cores with two threads each for a total of four threads (anything less than that will probably give you problems). My i3 is a haswel and has two cores with two threads per core and it runs okay (but it's the lowest spec. haswell i3 I could find and it is maxed out in games where there are large open areas with lots of geometry).

Get an i5 if you can but if that's too expensive an i3 is a pretty decent stop-gap solution until you've got a little more money to upgrade. You don't need an i7 yet, like you don't need more than 8GB of RAM (unless you're doing really hardware-intensive stuff like video processing/rendering.)

Edit: The one caveat to all of that is that if all you want to do all day is play Battlefield online then it might be better just to stick with AMD and upgrade to an FX 8350 until you can pick up a cheap i5 or i7 on eBay someway further down the line (Battlefield, played online, does benefit from multiple and more powerful cores, but right now multi-core Intel stuff is more expensive than AMD because each of the cores are just much more powerful than those of AMD, so pound for pound or dollar for dollar if you have the money intel are better value than AMD (plus that AMD socket is end of life and pretty much obsolete so best to migrate to LGA 1150 if you can).

thank you

in my country i can get i5 4440 for same price as fx8350

im building this PC more or less for gaming

so (in gaming) 4440 beats 8350?

Yes. That's what I've been intending to upgrade to.

I don't have a 970 so I can only give you info form the internet

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2439639/8350-bottleneck-nvidia-gtx-970.html

But it appears it wont bottleneck your card.

Now for the CPU the 8350 FX is a nice chip, I have one myself which I use for my main rig

https://pcpartpicker.com/b/9B9WGX

Now being honest yes AMD chips are outdated and Intel destroy them easily, but for the price of a mobo and the chip I would find it hard for you to get better performance with an Intel CPU. Again in Performance per dollar, not raw performance

I will point out that, that Motherboard is a very bad idea. If you getting a 8350 I recommend getting a 990FX mobo.

I have a Gigabyte 990Fx UD3 it has worked very well but for my taste it lacks fan headers and better fan control software. Still it around $100 is  very solid and proven board and it gets the job done with Overclocking support with no problems. My 8350 is at 4.4Ghz right now.

Check my build to get an idea of what components to get.

Do NOT cheap out and the power supply and the motherboard.
