Hi tomorrow i will be upgrading my pc (CPU,Ram and mobo) so i will need to install new windows i am switching from win7 to win8 but i have a few questions.

currently i have my win7 on old samsung 750gb hdd and on the 2nd hdd which is WD black 1tb i have video files, pictures, music.... so how can i install win8 on my WD black. will this work or am i missing a step.

i will transfer all files from wd black to samsung hdd and then i will install win8 to wd black and after that when i will be using win8 i will transfer files from samsung hdd to wd black.

if i left win7 on my samsung hdd will it maybe interfere with with win8. can i leave files on wd black and install win8 on it

Transfer all your files from WD Black to your Samsung (DO NOT LEAVE YOUR FILES ON YOUR WD IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO INSTALL YOUR WINDOWS 8 THERE).

After that you can install your windows 8 on your WD.

After installation, there is no need to transfer back your files to your WD from your Samsung. Better make your Samsung as your storage drive.

Your Windows 7 will not interfere as long as your Primary Boot Drive is your WD Black.

Hi there @avto!

I agree with what @ace101 wrote - you can just transfer the files stored in the Black drive to the other one (or backup them up elsewhere) and install Windows after that. Then change the boot order in BIOS.

Cheers! :)
