Hello everyone,

I recently bought a new GTX 960 and a FX-6300. I noticed that when I start playing games like BF4 or Shadows of Mordor it'll start up the fans to 100% and would cause a lot of noise and sometimes a lot of vibration. (It started vibrating less after placing my HDD's correctly in the case, just a side-note.)

Since it's winter i'm a bit concered about heating during the summer, so i'm looking into a new case.

I currently use a gutted out Compaq Presario SR5710F case (http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/Compaq-Presario-SR5000-Desktop-PC-series/3823953/model/3867466/document/c01616202/)

It doesn't have great ventulation and no extra fans on the case, also only one, real, place to put a small fan.

So, i'm looking for a new case to buy. I'm currently running:

Micro-ATX board (http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Detail.aspx?DetailID=1353&MenuID=115&LanID=0)

Zotac GTX 960

2 HDD's (Wester Digital)

EVGA 500b PSU

My board only has 1, 3-pin System fan connector, so i'll have to use a molex for 2 or more.

Right now i'm looking at this case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811235027

Are there any better ones for the same price or less?

Thanks,

Patrick

so your budget is 50$? Maybe you could get something from fractal design, if its just a little out of your budget its still worth adding the extra $ for it. Take a look at the source 210 elite, or corsair 200r or better. those two cases are the lowest I would go

Considering you can get an S340 for the price of that case, and you can just shelve your optical drive because I doubt you ever use it, that's what I would go. The stock two 140mm fans are perfectly sufficient for pretty much everything, just move the top 140mm exhaust to a front 140mm intake. With regards to your fan headers, you can get either a splitter cable or a cheap fan controller.

Another alternative for your specific problem is to get a Fractal Design Core 3500 (regular or window version, but window version comes with an extra fan so I would do that if I could). That case actually comes with a fan controller, which would solve your fan problems without a secondary purchase.

I've used a core1000 several times. And I've also used NZXT's cheap cases... and they are pretty good as well. Would reccomend anything from Fractal or NZXT in that under 50 range.

Just, always look for this: 120MM or bigger fans. At least one in front and one in back, any more is great too.

Thanks everyone for the replies, more then I expected.

I notice quiet a bit of recommendations for the Fractal Design Core 1000, which was my first option.

I also don't use a drive of any kind (DVD, etc), so that doesn't matter.

I'm looking over each case that was recommended now and seeing how they will all work out.

Which is a better fan type to get? 120MM or 140MM?

Is there a recommended brand of splitters/molex adapters for the fans?

My board only supports USB 2.0, so i'm mostly looking for those, maybe some USB 3.0 for a future MOBO upgrade.

Size of the case doesn't matter, and it sits on a desk, so a bottom ventualted/mounted PSU will work out.

cases are a very personnel thing sure there are good and bad cases and hugely popular ones but it is down to what you like i suggest you have a look around pick some out that you like and link them here we can better guide you that way.

They are, but almost anything right now is an upgrade and will look better then my current case. I'll try and provide a list soon as I look through all the recommendations.

Cm haf 512? Corsair 400r maybe. You want a window? Atx, mini, micro like your mb?

Windows are always nice, space or size doesn't matter as much as accessibility and ventualtion for me.

Thanks once again everyone.

The S340 is by far the best of those. It looks to be the only one that actually has a second fan (besides the Zalman Z9 which is the same price), and both fans are 140mm, so it by far has the best cooling configuration stock (once you move the top exhaust fan to a front intake). Plus it's by far the most expandable, even with room for large radiators for AIO water cooling, and it looks the best. Of those, I would get the S340 in a heartbeat.
