Hi guys, I am building myself a pc. I will do heavy gaming, and nothing else very intense. I wanted it to be as quiet as possible, so I chose some extra-cost parts to ensure it. Here it is: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/NQ7cjX (fyi you have to copy and paste that link, you can't just click on it)

Do you guys think it's a wise investment, and will I game well on 1080p for the next few years?

CPU: INTEL Core i7 4790k @ 4.7Ghz - Cooling: NZXT Kraken X61 - Mobo: Gigabyte Z97X SLI - RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ares 2400mhz - GPU: AMD Sapphire Nitro R9 Fury 4G - Case: Phanteks P350X - PSU: EVGA 750GQ - Storage: WD Black 1TB - Fans: 2x Noctua NF-P14s (Push) / 2x Corsair AF140 (Pull) / 3x Corsair AF120 (Exhaust) - Keyboard: Corsair K70 Cherry MX Red - Mouse: Razer Deathadder Chroma

Bit of an AMD fan I suppose. I don't bias my replies to anything however, I just prefer AMD and their products. Buy whatever the H*CK you want.

Your current rig looks pretty capable. Why not just drop in a new GPU and an SSD?

I could do that, but my current rig is loud by today's standards, mind you I built it 5 years ago. I would be limited to a 750 ti due to bottlenecking, and I would rather get a new future-proof system that will last for 3 years.

FYI, to fix the link: Edit the post. Put the cursor in the link. Click on the Link tool button. Edit the link and remove the %C2%A0 at the end.

This build should be much quieter and provide better gaming performance.

The Noctua cpu cooler will provide excellent cooling and a decent overclock reasonably quietly.

The Strix GTX 970 is relatively quiet. It uses smart fan technology so that at idle and low loads it doesn't have to spin its fans.

The Define Mini has sound insulation and is designed to minimize noise escaping from the case.

The psu has smart fan control. It can be configured to run fanless at low draws, ramping the fan speed as load & temperature increases.

There should be no need for additional fans.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

You could drop in a GTX 980 right now and be able to utilize 100% of its power in most situations. As for the noise, you could just buy a new heatsink or watercooler. You can take both of these components to a new PC in a year or two. The current Haswell lineup is very stale, I would wait for 14nm. Your Q6600 can last until then.

On a side note, how're the tri 465's running?

They're running toasty warm :) I used them to warm up my room this morning when it was -29°F outside. They perform well and scream like jets while doing it!
