Low-End Office GPU

xeks

Looking to recycle my old rig:

Antec 900

Gigabyte GA-P35-S3G

Intel E8600

Kingston HyperX 8GB (4x2) 800 MHz

I need a cheap GPU preferably less than $50 USD. Will only be doing e-mail, word processing, youtube and other online videos ie CNN, and simple things such as that. No gaming what so ever. Prefer to shop via Fry's or Newegg or NCIX depending on the price. Thanks.

Anything function in my opinion. I've set up my grand mother with the intel HD graphics 4000 and she coudn't be happier. She is driving a 23inch 1080p Samsung monitor with it and she loves it!

Otherwise anything low end. Like in my old Dell inspiron 530, I had a Radeon HD 3400 series and it was just perfect even for some light photoshop and gaming while using 2 monitors (one 1920X1080 and a 1440X900

Almost anything would be suitable. Just choose the cheapest GPU you can find.

This is only $26

Intel E8600 + Gt 630 from nvidia + 8Gb of ram is more than enough for a work pc ( even some basic photoshop editing would be ok )

The GT630 is a crappy value card, the OP is better off with the 6450.

I wouldn't go anywhere near something that is that old and was the worst card in its generation when its new because it will likely have bad drivers support.

Get the cheapest newest card that you can find because the closer that it is to the new stuff the longer it will have driver support. And if its a work computer you can't say for certain whether or not new OS will be put on there and if one is put on there that the card that you choose doesn't have driver support. You will have to spend more money to get a new GPU.

I know this from experience a buddy of mine is using windows 8 (yes I know) and has a 4000 series card from AMD and they have all but cut him off in terms of driver support.

Possibly a gt 630 would do pretty good, it's a pretty cheap card

Yeap, a 630 would be pretty good or if you want to upgrade your PC a bit then go for a8 or a10 APU to get the baller integrated GPU :)

Why don't you just use onboard graphics?

That cpu hasn't onboard graphics and I would buy a hd 5450

A GT630 is a lot more expensive then a 5450 or 6450, what's the point of getting a GT630 if there is just a basic office machine.
