I'm looking to build my first computer and mostly plan to use it for video editing. I have roughly a $3000 budget which I know I could go Intel but I'm wondering how the AMD FX 8350 is for editing because with Intel the price tag goes up very fast and help would be great fully appreciated thank you.

Go for an i7 instead, it will be a much better option, especially with that budget.

AMD is better suited for low budget builds, and with higher budget builds like yours, intel is by far the best option.

You should be looking at something like this if you are HARDCORE into video editing.  Like its your job.  If its just a hobby, or something you want to get into, you don't need to spend anywhere near $3,000 on a computer.

about the same level as an haswell core i5...get at least a i7-4790K which is much faster than the FX at just about anything...if budget allow you might want to build on a X99 and i7-5820K for a 12 threads capable chip...or a 1000$ i7-5960X CPU for 16 threads.
