Trading non tech related items?

I have had a hard time trying to get rid of non tech related items for tech related items, either people think they are worth copious amounts of gold or flat out throw them on the curb it seems. 

 

Where do you buy used components? And do you ever trade for non tech related items?

I very rarely trade stuff but I buy 90% of my stuff off of kijiji. and bargain REAL hard.
