Good Sub plus receiver?

OK, so i need a new subwoofer, as my system is 5.0 atm due to my sub being broken.

current receiver is sony str d965

speakers are polk RM6005 SAT 77362

 

Also, my receiver is dieing and doesnt have corect inputs. I also need a new receiver, preferably with HDMI input, or some other way to get surround.

 

I would like to buy used to save money, from ebay or my local craigslist.

unfortunatly, the hdmi audio doesnt work, so i cant get surround sound from that

you can set the speakers to play from a stereo signal, so you would get sounds from all your speakers even if you were only playing music...

this is what I do

but if you want the special surround effects only for movies then youre gonna need to keep looking for another receiver

IMO its worth it...

I like to hear my music through surround speakers too even though its only stereo audio

most are only stereo, but you might find a couple that have full 5.1 surround

I was looking at that listing more, I think it looks like a guy bought the amp from the old listing, tried to make HDMI audio work, and it looks like no audio works anymore.

I'll have to ask him.

I mean, my current amp is OK, just staticy and pops and such.

Also, when I turn on my amp, my bedroom lights flicker.
