what resolutions are you playing on, you could get a 970 for 1080p

you can get a core i5 if you are not streaming or rendering videos alot, and get a better card like a 290x

well i plan to play on 720/1080p

your specs are overkill for a standard 1080p rig.

just wondering why the i5 over the i7?

if you are not streaming or doing photo/video editing there is no actual need going an i7. the performance gap in gaming between those 2 cpus is very small, however in multithread situations like photoshop or rendering the i7 beats the i5.
