I need a new graphics card.

I game at 1080p and am looking to spend no more than £300. I'm a bit of an nvidia fanboy, but I could possibly be persuaded otherwise.

What would you suggest??

Edit: I will be able to order it in about 2-3 weeks  :D

r9 290x! don't be a fan boy! I choose the best card for the price. the 290x is cheaper than a 970, in many games it's better and it doesn't have the vram issue so you get all 4gb of it!

Gaming PC: • AMD Ryzen 7 3900x • 16gb Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200mhz • Founders Edition 2080ti • 2x Crucial 1tb nvme ssd • NZXT H1• Logitech G915TKL • Logitech G Pro • Asus ROG XG32VQ • SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless

@TokyoSin as said before i would recommened a 290X from sapphire because they run like a charm. i would always go with the hardware that fits your budget most, besides wich brand you prefer.

290X and GTX 970 are very close in performance comparison it really depends on wich setup you are running. if you are gaming above 1080p or playing heavily moded skyrim then grab the 290X because the full speed VRAM. Otherwise grab a GTX 970.

Case: Corsair Obsidian 450D with 2x SP120 / 1x AF120 Mainboard: Z97 Msi Gaming 5 CPU: i7 4790K @4.0 Ghz CPU-Cooler: Noctua U14S RAM: 16 GB DDR3 Corsair Vengance 1600 Mhz GPU: Sapphire Vapor-X R9 290X HDD: WD Green 2 TB SSD: Samsung Evo 250 GB PSU: Corsair RM 750W Monitor: BenQ XL 2411z 144hz 1080p

What difference does it make who it's coming from, if it was Linus' benchmarks you would trust it...

I trust specs and games which support such gpu but linus doesn't really compare and stuff anymore i haven't done what he has said ever

I didn't know what to put here...

I have a R9 290 which is about ten thousand times faster than my old GT 740

okay... thanks for that

Sorry very off topic, I recommend the r9 290, or spend the extra money on the r9 290x

Get the gtx 970. Offers the same performance as a 290x while being much more efficient and also overclocking better. Also in the UK there isn't any price difference between them. Try and get the gigabyte g1 gaming as it is basically the best gtx 970 available.

Does the R9 290 have any vram issues like the 970

No but its still a slower card. The 970 is faster and competes with the 290x. Also in 1080p that issue is almost non existent.

The R9 290/x is also like a volcano
