Hey Guys.

So Im building a PC For my friend. Here is the build http://pcpartpicker.com/p/RGBVgs

For some reason he thinks we have to do something to get the mail in rebate.

Is that true?

Yeah it usually takes around 4 week for everything to be done but basically you take off the UPC or bar-code from the package you want to send in submit, a MIR forum online, and follow the instructions on mailing it in. They will mail you back a cheque or prepaid credit card of the amount owed.

Basically you should just avoid them if possible. I'm still waiting for an MIR from NCIX from 6 months ago when we built my dad's PC....

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

You should contact the company you RMA to if it doesn't come back within 4-6 weeks it's most likely not happening. I've use Corsair's RMA which gives you a tracking number to see the progress, depending on the company others may have them too.

I gave up so long ago I hardly care. 20 bucks down the drain isn't worth that time..

Yeah, as others have said. It is a mail-in-rebate, so you mail something in, wait a bit (sometimes a lot of bits), then get money back. But, personally, I think that they're a waste of time. With the build I am currently saving up for on pcpartpicker, I have chosen parts with lower base prices than the parts with lower mail-in-rebate or promo code prices for multiple reasons.

- Sometimes, with mail-in-rebates, the companies take FOREVER to respond.

- If you choose a part with a low price due to a mail-in-rebate, then save up for it. That mail-in-rebate could be gone by the time you're done saving.

- There are others that I don't even know and some that I can't think of right now.

Overall I suggest, if you have the choice, if there are two similar products, one having a lower base price and the other having a lower mail-in-rebate price. I'd suggest going with the one with the lower base price.
