Definitely play Opposing Force, I loved that. Never played Blue Shift but I would play it as well. Source is just an HL1 port to the Source engine. Never played Deathmatch, but AFAIK, it's only multiplayer.

Play them in the order of release date. Best way to experience the story is in the order it was available.

Remember, the games haven't aged nearly as well as people claim.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Users cannot, and will not securely manage key material. Most users can't and the ones that can, wont.

Ask me about Bitcoin, Litecoin, Crypto-Currencies, and/or Mining them.

May Gaben be with you. I love those games. If you can you should download the Half-Life 2 cinematic mod. http://cinematicmod.com/

Love cats and Linus. Check out linuscattips-fan-club. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Z9QDVn and Asus ROG Swift. I love anime as well. Check out Heaven Society heaven-society. My own personal giveaway thread http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/387856-evga-geforce-gtx-970-giveaway-presented-by-grimneo/.

Don't worry about source and deathmatch. Half Life Source is the same experience as Half Life 1, they just imported the old assets into the new engine. But the graphics look the same as they did not make new assets. Don't play deathmatch.

Opposing Force and Blue Shift were very good games. REally enjoyed them back in the day. If you enjoyed Half Life 1 then play them. in below order

Half Life 1

Opposing Force

Blue Shift

On the other hand if you feel that after playing Half Life 1 that it is too old and outdated, then jump straight to Half Life 2. Opposing Force and Blue Shift are two expansions which were made mostly by Gearbox with the guidance of Valve, while Valve was too busy trying to make the source engine and get started on HL2. These were the glory days of Gearbox, Randy Pitchford was also involved who is still around at gearbox (less popular now).

Overall order

Half Life 1

Opposing Force

Blue Shift

Half Life 2

Half Life 2 episode 1

Portal 1

Half Life 2 episode 2

Portal 2
