So i bought a Corsair cx600 psu and a gtx460 to my dell desktop and then i realiced that dell is the most evil company ever to exist. The dell motherboard have a normal 4-pin cpu atx and the main motherboard power is 8-pin, man wtf. And yes im not high its an actual 8pin mainpower atx. So how do i get trough this problem? The only solution i have found is to buy a new motherboard... And again my bumbass brain got in a problem and this time its what socket my CPU have, its a i7 4770k.

wanna ask more questions about my things or just a pic go ahead.

Are you sure about this? There is like no other socket for this cpu?

Nope and I'm sure.

Can you give us the model of the motherboard or take a picture of it?

First of all, the only compatible socket for the CPU is the LGA 1150.

Second, you are probably talking about the CPU power connector, which comes in 4 pin, and 4+4 pin (8 pin) variants. They are inter-compatible, meaning if your CX600 has a 4+4, you can physically split the connector into two, and plug in only the 4 pin part you need (sometimes it's a bit tricky as they can be pretty tight together, and look very similar to the 8 pin GPU power connector).

Finally, even if you are talking about a motherboard with no 20 or 24 pin main connector, it's not all there is to it. Dell, as any other big PC company uses proprietary motherboard form factors as well, meaning it's not necessarily ATX or mATX, but a different size and shape, meaning you may have to replace the case as well.

The thing is that the cpu is 4-pin and the "big" atx cable is 8-pin Dell just broke the universe...

yes because that's how dell makes there money because they want you to by there power supply's there boards there proprietary crap

I know I work for HP Nothing is normal to a good custom system. The board only meant to use there own components.

also If you do by an aftermarket motherboard it likeley wont fit in your case because dell's boards have different mounting holes

yes if you put a new motherboard into a new case and add the 4770k it will work.

also make you tell us what the case and motherboard are so we can make sure its right. you need a z87 lga 1150 board

It just says Optiplex 9020. and the case is the default Optiplex 9020

Now I need a new motherboard. I found this ASUS B85M-G. I don't have any experience in this pc hardware stuff so does it seem ok? can i use it with 64 win7? xD

yes that board will work with windows 7-8-10 32 and 64 bit

also I would recomend a z87-97 motherboard like this
