So my friend is "upgrading" his rig that isnt even a year old yet, he never cleans them.. well once and thats when his computer is restarting alot, so i told him to clean it. One thing to note that he's Absurdly Rich, he performs poor at school(32 score at math). He asks me alot for tech tips so i give him and this is the one i cannot help directly. So help me out guys

  • CPU: AMD FX-6300
  • Motherboard: MSI 970A-G43
  • RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB Dual Channel 1600Mhz
  • GPU: ASUS 750ti
  • Case: Dazumba D-Vito 903
  • PSU: Corsair VS650
  • Cooling: Cooler Master HYPER 212 Turbo
That time his budget was very limited so i matched up my rig with his. Now what HE WANTED TO DO is get a 960, and in the future a 960 SLI, he completely ignores overclocking and bottlenecking so once in awhile i maintain his computer. HECK HE DOESNT EVEN KNOW WHAT IS A BIOS. I helped him install windows 8, helps him clean his build, helps him build his rig. By helping i mean doing it all by myself unpaid. He already Changed to an ASUS 960 and he already changed his PSU
Question:
  1. Will it Bottleneck? FX-6300 with 960?
  2. Will he need to change mobo to go SLI?

Oh i complain about him alot, I COMPLAIN ABOUT RICH PEOPLE NOT KNOW WHAT THEIR DOING. But ffs i helped him with all that and he's going to gave away his 750Ti and VS650 to someone that already has them?! By the way he upgraded his PSU to 750W, non modular, and when he installs it the cables are... WOW, JUMBLED. He also plans to get a 4K Monitor, he already has a k70 RGB so why the fuck not? WHY THE FUCK NOT?! WHO CARES ABOUT THE GUY WHO HAS BEEN MAINTAINING YOUR PC, THAT COMES TO YOUR HOUSE ONCE A MONTH TO CLEAN IT AND MAINTAIN ITS OC?! Apparently not this rich Asshole.

I am also worried about his plans, he doesnt even know tech and he wanna goes Watercooling in 2 years.

Are you okay?

Either way, the GTX 960 (even if SLI'd) won't do 4K.

A 960 is not even a huge step up from 750 Ti :o

And it depends on what games he plays. A CPU heavy game (like Skyrim or Minecraft) will be bottlenecked by that CPU probably.

Because he believes that the more next gen it is, the more better. I can even say to him why not get a R9 290 like you suggested. but nooooooooooooooooo he is so one sided

I want to copy the chat of his skype between me but thats against the COC last time i did.

Like i said he already purchased the 960 even though its not a huge step, and i said that when you reach the end of the line (e.x 780) then you go SLI if you want more power. He refuses to hear what i said and continues to ask will this bottleneck, if it does what do i buy rashy?

EDIT: I guess he is stupid enough to hear from his tech savvy friend(i once group chat with his friends, it was horrid, tech hell! the bigger the better?!). Too late to hear from me, so he purchased the 960 without contacting me.

He should get a 4690k and a SLI capable mobo like the krait tbh,

If he already has a 960.

You can PM me tho.
