Logitech Unifying receiver will not work on one computer

I have a K400 and it has no problem working on my laptop, the family computer or my brothers laptop, but it just plain will NOT work on my gaming rig no matter which port i plug the receiver into, its been that way since built it. Its only ever worked once. Are there any known applications or drivers that cause the receiver to have detection problems?

i got rid of motioninjoy, microsoft mouse and keyboard, and madcatz rat software and it still wont work
