Power Limit too high?

Go to solution Solved by JustCallMeVlad,

Pretty sure 1.25v is the limit on the voltage locked cards and the power limit is fine

I've modded the BIOS on my PNY GTX 970 because teh power target was locked at a measly 106%. I'm just wondering if I've set it too high? This is my first high end card and I don't want to fry it immediately. I've ran several Valley stress tests and gamed for hours with no problem.

One other thing I've noticed is that whatever I set as an overvolt doesn't matter. If I give +25 mV it caps at 1.23 and anything over 50 mV caps at 1.25. Is this from PNY's BIOS or is it part of the Maxwell architecture?

Thanks for the replies. The reason I modded the BIOS was because even with a mild overclock the card was pwr limiting in GPUz. With these settings it's boosting to 1495 with the slight voltage bump and keeping the power target around 125%. Temps are fine, I guess I'm just overly cautious. TIFU by cheaping out and buying a G3258 instead of an i5. I guess my next purchase is either the 4690k or 4790k.
