Where to begin

So I've been wanting to get into programming for a while now but I don't know where to start, I know that the best way to learn is to actually do it but how can I do it if I literally don't know anything.

Code Academy is really useful.

try visual basic or html first, then move on to something like java or c

HTML is a good starting point. (Markup Language)

This will also teach you a little Javascript and CSS, which you can then learn in more detail.

 

After gaining knowledge, jump into Python, Java, C++ e.t.c. (Something bulky with lots of tutorials)

for the actual language to learn this would depend on the goal of what you want to code. If this is standalone apps then Python is a good bet, if you are looking for web dev them java/html is good.

Java for web development good? Hell no

While I'm sure he meant Javascript (wish people would get that right), Java is still a viable language to use for web development.
