today i was at bestbuy w/ my uncle and we were checking out computers for him to put in his office, he wants one for 600 bucks and i finally got him to agree that i should make him one. i am having a really hard time picking a case, i as gonna choose the air 240 but he said he wants a dell optiplex sized system. what is a good m-itx , m-atx case that is the shape of the dell optiplex ( shape of a xbox one, but obviously bigger). btw i didnt count in a licence for windows 8 so make sure its cheap and awesome.

Space Journal #1: So Apparently i  was dropped on the moon like i'm a mars rover, in a matter of hours i have found the transformers on the dark side of the moon. Turns out its not that dark since dem robots are filled with lights, i waved hi to the Russians on the space station, turns out all those stories about space finding humans instead of the other way around is true(soviet Russia joke). They threw me some Heineken beer and I've been sitting staring at the people of this forum and earth since.

If he is on a 600 dollar budget I don't think that a 84 dollar case would make sense.

I like the BitFenix Prodigy, and an ITX case would be fine for this as long as he doesn't need a ton of HDDs. I would probably go with something like the following build:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-4440 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($174.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: ASRock H81M-ITX/WIFI Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($71.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($59.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($71.71 @ Amazon)
Case: BitFenix Prodigy (Black) Mini ITX Tower Case  ($69.99 @ NCIX US)
Power Supply: Corsair CX 430W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($50.99 @ Directron)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)  ($98.98 @ OutletPC)
Total: $598.64

OP was considering Air 240, and the Raven is around the price of an Air 240.

okay so i ordered all the parts. instead of a 240 i got a cooler master elite 110 because its like 40 dollars cheaper. my uncle does photoshop and illustrator work, he always complains about his computer getting slow so instead of going for a core i5 system i went for an amd A10 based system and put a 500 gig ssd in there. this isnt his main work station he has a imac at home for that. this is his office pc and is the stepping stone for him letting me build a baller home pc because he is starting to hate the mac.

Hold on, just, just, he photoshops and complains of slowness, so you give him a way worse processor and a big ssd? Am I getting this right? Cause I dont think that was a good idea. You should have got him an i3 and a smaller ssd if he had to have one.

i was thinking about the i3 but face it, software in the coming years cant run off of dual core regardless of the hyper threading stuff. the A10 is fairly capable for what he does. i have a gpu and other things laying around so its not gonna get bottlenecked by some stupid illustrator design where the dimensions are of a billboard.
