Fan position?

Go to solution Solved by W-L,

I have my rear for exhaust, top two for intake, and two front for intake.

That will most likely result in a negative pressure which will tend to bring in dust near gaps in the case, you can however prevent that by running the exhaust fans at very low speed and the front intake ones higher to increase the intake CFM. Alternatively you could make the rear fan intake and have the exhaust all go out the top rad, just be sure to have a dust filter in place

Overall it's not a bad setup jsut if you want to prevent some dust infiltration.

That is exactly what I'm doing.

EDIT: Wait, NEGATIVE pressure? I have four fans blasting air into my case, and one for exhaust, if anything, that would be positive pressure.

Are the top intakes at least filtered?

Have the front and rear as intakes. Top as exhaust.

Yes that is definitely positive pressure but also make sure it's not too much positive pressure since the air does need a place to exhaust out of an enclosed space. When it lacks in exhaust the intake fans will try to force air in but gets limited by amount able to exhaust so there needs to be a balance of in and out with slightly more intake to prevent dust infiltration.

No.. there isn't really any drastic change in pressure and air wouldn't have any issue escaping. Cases aren't airtight.

True but there would be less airflow through the case if the exhaust is limited even if less than airtight cases, not by any large margin but it'd help optimize it a bit further.

It makes very little difference in the 'long run'. Fan positing makes a much bigger difference.

your build is messed up.naturally the heated air goes up.and your 2 top intake fans prevents it

Warmer air rising makes virtually no difference inside of a case when there's active airflow. The reason why it is mentioned is due to air below the case being cooler and that being better for cooling than the warmer air above it.
