How do you make windows 8.1 start up instantly (into desktop screen) without having to deal with the initial screen? 

The BBQ: i7-4770 / 212x / Tri-X R9 290x 1075/1400 / MSI H87-G43 GAMING / EVGA G2 850W / Corsair Spec 03 / Samsung 840 EVO 250gb SSD / Toshiba 2TB HDD / 8gb Kingston DDR3 1600mhz

Right Click on windows icon in bottom left

in those settings thiers an option to boot to dekstop instead of start screen

Take a look at Start8, its only a few £/$ but it removes the Modern interface from Win 8/8.1 entirely and replaces it with an exact clone of Windows 7 start menu. There's a few free apps that do the same thing but none of them are as good as Start8.
