This thread is to help people on the forums who want to use game engines and run in to issues or have questions.

UDK - http://www.unrealengine.com/udk/ - (http://forums.epicgames.com/forums/366-UDK)

Unity - http://unity3d.com/ - (http://udn.unity3d.com/)

GameMaker - http://www.yoyogames.com/gamemaker/studio - (http://gmc.yoyogames.com/)

Although each of these game engines have a forum (Listed above in brackets) they tend to be lengthy and unreliable when it comes to answers, from my experience most people on the forums tend to be cocky and don't give an answer and more or less gloat about what they can do.

The idea of this thread is for people looking for quick answers they cant find Google.

The Rules:

  • Questions should cover: Game Engine, Issue/Question.
  • Answers Should be as short as possible and include links if needed.
  • NO flooding the thread with posts and conversation please take it to PM if i surpasses the need for 3 posts for 1 issue.
  • After your question is answered please edit the original post but striking through the text with the S Symbol and stating that it has been answered like the following:

"How do i install UDK?  - Answered"

Please keep it clean and help as much as you can :)

This is kinda' general-ish, but is here on the forum somebody that can help me get into game developing? With guides and stuff, because the guides on the tubes are useless for me. I know a degree or two of c++ programming, but i doubt it helps.

look at the game engines i listed above, there all free to use and simple to get your head around.

id suggest UDK as it has the largest list of written and video based tutorials and the programming is simple as hell to learn.

if you need any more advice just pm and i will try my hardest to help :)
