Heyyo,

Definitely agree with the others, get either an AMD FX-6300 series or FX-8300 series CPU... then if you wanted to upgrade further? Wait for the AMD 300 series to release or get a GTX 980 to drive those screens... if budget is an issue though? You could always try to find a used or cheap AMD R9 280X and do CrossFire since that ASRock board supports it. ;)

As a rule of thumb you should always match CPU and GPU a bit. A high powerful GPU and a cheap CPU is a poor choice. And the more you go down in resolution the more you bottleneck a GPU with a CPU.

I use a 5960X with a 3way GTX980 SLI. Now you could say I am the king in 1080p... sorry I´m not, my CPU bottlenecks the 3 GPUs. Of course my PC is so powerful in games that you can´t really see that. But in benchmarks the CPU chokes out the GPUs.

Same will happen with a FX4300 and a R9 280X but you will see that in games. Besides that this CPU is due to it´s totally outdated architecture a big problem for CPU intense games like ArmaIII or WoW.

ya i starting to agree i did some test yesterday after i posted and tested my pc with my new setup with maybe 2 games at the most

ultra settings fullscreen at 5760x1080 - with out my overclock and stock clock at 3.8ghz and memory at 1600

dirt 3 - 55-60FPS

Grid Autosports -29-37fps

so from grid autosports my fps was alot higher with 1 monitor then with 3 1080p and from the test i broke down and over nighted a fx 8350 :D

Since you had the FX990 board and all other components the FX8350 (I hope you have a good cooler) with the R9 280X is definitely the right choice. If it was a fresh rig I would have recommended Intel´s i5 though.

The R9 280X will work fine with the FX8350. The only things that will still stay the same is the poor single core performance, but I guess you will be happy since this CPU is a big jump to a FX8350, so enjoy ;) .
