What is the difference?

I was looking through the CPU compatibility list for the motherboard I'm using at my grandma's, and it says there is a Q8400 and a Q8400s. What is the difference? The "s" SKU has a lower TDP, but it seems that the clock speed and cache are the same as the non-"s" SKU. At least according to the ECS website.

 

Yes, I am thinking about upgrading to a C2Q after I get Athena better off, since I will not do well with an E7400 and some kind of low profile GPU that I have yet to find.

No. Higher efficiency doesn't mean less power, just less power wasted as heat. If it didn't have the same performance numbers they would have given it a different part number.

Interesting... Being cooled by an ID-COOLING IS-40 and being in a Silverstone ML03B, that lower TDP should be rather nice.
