I just bought a 4690k and i have a Seidon 120v CLC cooler. Im running a stress test to see if its stable out of the box and its at 74 degrees celcious at 3.7 Ghz on 1.025 V. Why is it so hot? I had a G3258 that was overclocked to 4.2 Ghz at i think like 1.23 V and ran at 70 degrees celcious on full load in prime 95. Any reason its so hot? Also i just looked away and it went back down to low 60's and as i watch it, it goes back up to high 60's. Then back down. So its flucuating alot. Why?

Maybe the thermal paste, maybe it's hot in your room, maybe the tim inside the ihs is really bad....

Reseat the cooler and reapply thermal paste. if that doesn't do it, like @EMENCII said, could be hot in toyr room of the tim is bad.

Am I the only one around here who really doesn't like pcpartpicker?
I also like Ubisoft and Origin/EA
Guess I'm just odd that way.

HATER OF MAIL IN REBATES!

You should not use Prime 95 with Haswell chips, it pushes them a lot further than they will ever go and is not an accurate representation. I suggest to download the AIDA 64 demo and use that for stability/temp tests.

What tool are you using to stress test it? Use aida64 because Prime95 has a problem with overvolting haswell cpus, and you should never use it.
