FX 8320 temperatures

Go to solution Solved by RevoltTrain,

That's perfectly alright temperatures

Hey guys, I have an FX 8320 and a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo cooler. Keeping in mind that I haven't overclocked the CPU yet, my temperatures at idle are hovering right around 30-32. Are these safe temperatures? Should they be lower considering how good of a cooler I have? I also should mention that I used the thermal paste that came with the cooler. Thanks for your help guys, I really appreciate it!

Those temperatures are safe, but I have to warn you that the temperatures FX chips report are not accurate. Its more than likely fine though.

Just for reference, my Intel 4670k being cooled by a corsair h100i is sitting at 23 degrees Celsius idle. It's winter time and my room is fairly cold.

Cannot compare temps across platforms.

No, according to Intel user statements, if youll reach 35 C on FX 8320 at idle, your CPU will explode.

That's not even close to being an accurate statement. I haven't seen a single person say that.

that really depends on ambient temps. If in the room you're in the temperature is -200° and it idles at 30° it's not ok. If your room is 15-20° then yeah its perfectly fine

When Intel fanboys have been accurate ?

Most people on here Dont fanboy either way. I'm not even a fanboy, if AMD makes a chip capable of beating the 4790k, at the same price point, with a good chip set, I'll buy it

But what you said makes no sense. I've never seen a single person on here say anything close to that.

No, you Dont. You see people dissuading others from buying the amd chips, specifically fx chips, because the fx chips are on a dead socket, not true 6/8 core chips, have a bad architecture, terrible IPC, lots of heat, lots of power usage, and aren't as good as Intel's current offerings. They're being shit on for a reason. I would reccomend an and CPU, for some low budget builds, but not an fx chip.

Ffs, I've already told you, I'm not a fanboy, I go Intel, because right now, its the more powerful option. If AMD were to come up with a brand new socket/chip set and make a new line of CPUs, that could stand up to the 4790k at the same price, I'd buy it in a second. But they don't. Even the 9590 is easily beaten by the 4790k/4690k. The 9590 is just a binned 8320. The fx chips are five years old.

I have no problem with AMD.

You said AMD runs hotter than Intel, which is totaly not true. FX chips are still great for the money if you compare them to directly same priced Intel ones.

No, their not. I can buy an i5-4460 for about 170$, about the same as an 8350. Get myself a mobo for 50$ on the Intel side, I'd need a 100$ mobo on the and side, and the 4460 outperforms the 8350. Even for something like recording/streaming, I can use the igp(integrate graphics processor) to do the encoding with zero performance hit. The 8350 would have its extra "cores", to do the encoding.

Thats some well thought out bullshit right there, but FX 8350 out performs any locked i5 at streaming, recording, rendering and editing, i5 only has edge in gaming due to games being made with quad threading in mind at best.

Its beat by the i5 on streaming and recording, because of the igp. As far as rendering/editing goes, the 8350 scores a 1.11 on cinebench, and the i5 scores a 1.49.

What Intel product does an FX-8350 at $179.99 compare to? That's low-end Core i5 territory, which it rarely even comes close to.
