I plan on building a new PC soon. I will be going with a GTX 980. I plan on having two watercooling loops- gpu and cpu. EVGA makes a 980 with the preinstalled waterblock. Should I go with the preinstalled full card design from EVGA or should I go for a custom block?

its a good water block but you can never run the card without having on a loop. imo id go with the preinstalled block

if you are reading this you are wasting valuable time and should maybe rethink your life choices.

In the future I'm sure I will add cards to my loop, so I would like to run it on a seperate loop just so my system is future proofed

No system is futureproof... You would be lucky if your computer lasts an year without upgrades and still be considered high end.

And a single loop for cpu and even 4 gpu's is better then two loops...

That makes little to no sense to have two separate loops running in your system.  That means two pumps, two reservoirs, etc...

I understand the appeal of a custom loop, but humor me for a moment and consider a dual AIO system.  An AIO for your CPU, an AIO for your GPU, and you can also add a 2nd AIO for a second GPU if you so desire, provided you have a compatible case for all that radiator space.

I disagree with that. I would prefer 2 loops for a cpu and 4 gpus.

It is not an appeal thing. Yes, I think that custom loop is very cool, but I am not doing it because of that. I am building a custom loop because of their great cooling potential. I understand that I could just get AIOs but that is not the same. In the end, a custom loop is going to be more affective for overclocking, which is something that I plan on doing

Unless you go absolutely overboard with radiators, an AIO will deliver 85% of the performance of a custom loop, at a third of the price.  The quality of overclock you get is not going to come down to temperatures with either AIO or custom loop, because both cool extremely well.  What your overclock comes down to is the silicon lottery, how good of a chip you get.

Go with a custom loop, I'm not stopping you, just wanted to let you know that building two separate loops is insane and makes no sense.
