Worth the Upgrade?

Go to solution Solved by Analog,

Depends on your primary usage scenario, pretty much what the others already said - rendering go 4790K or even x99 and i7 6-core, if you are mostly gaming, there will be no compeling justification from upgrading, especially to a 4790K, since it only adds hyperthreading. Some games do benefit a bit from two extra cores, but an entire platform change and paying the premium for DDR4 is not worth it for the less than 5 extra FPS.

For gaming? No. For video editing maybe. 4790K would be the best choice, the 4960X would require a mobo change.

Not worth it. Don't bother spending cash if you're not going to utilize it.

video editing: 4790K

3D, heavy rendering: 4960X

Our Grace. The Feathered One. He shows us the way. His bob is majestic and shows us the path. Follow unto his guidance and His example. He knows the one true path. Our Saviour. Our Grace. Our Father Birb has taught us with His humble heart and gentle wing the way of the bob. Let us show Him our reverence and follow in His example.
