Slow Ram vs low ram

I'm having an old machine and with my extreme lack of money I need to update only a few components only so I will start with Ram cause its most useful and quite inexpensive

I'm have an pc3-10600 2x2GB I know that if I buy pc3-1333(i can't remember their code name) they will run as 667mhz. I can't buy 8gb of 1333mhz rams so it is better to

1)buy the same slow Ram and have 4x2gb 667mhx

2) buy 2x2gb 1333mhz and have 2x2gb 667mhz and 2x2bg 1333mhz

3) or buy only 2x2bg 1333mhz and remove my old rams.

My device is

Phenom x4 955 black

Ga-ma785gt-ud3h

Radeon 5750

1tb baraccuda

Thanks and sorry for my English

If I don't go below 1333 I have to buy and stay with only 2x2gb Ram...

I would say getting an ssd would get you far better performance over ram for a little more money then ram, but that's if you can afford x amount more.

CPU: I5-4440 / MOBO: Gigabyte GA-Z87-DS3H / RAM: G.Skill ripjaws 2x4GB / Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 128gb SSD, 1TB WD HDD / PSU: Corsair CX500M / Case: Xigmatek Aquila / Monitor: Dell U2414H

SSD is a nice addition but i will get it when I buy my new parts. For of i think it's better to wait a bit to gather money for a 24th Ram.. I see there is no point for buying something now.. Thanks

Hahaha it's just a combination of Pikachu with my last name...

Don't worry about going at 666 look at Linux's video about ram speed

I saw it that's why I'm asking here...

Having enough is far more important than how fast it is. Once you run low on memory the system resorts to page faults which is easily 4x slower than accessing system memory.

What I don't get is 667 MHz is 1333 MHz memory as long as it's in a dual channel configuration. So all of your memory should run at 1333 MHz.

Yeah 2x2gb at 667=1333mhz

If I wanna buy a new same Ram to have max 8gb I need to buy the exact same Ram? Same company same codes? Or i can buy any two modules 2x2gb pc3-10600

They only need to be the same speed not the same brand in matching pairs.

Yeah 2x2gb at 667=1333mhz

The actual rated frequency speed is 667MHz, but it's effective speed is 1333MHz. DDR = Double Data Rate.

It has nothing to do with being dual-channel or single-channel.

Example: on graphics cards, the GDDR5 VRAM is advertised at 7GHz (7000MHz), but that's the effective clock speed. It's actual rated speed is 1750MHz (1/4 of 7000MHz).

I can run only one stick of my DDR3 2133MHz (1066MHz) RAM and will still be 2133MHz.

Or I can add a third stick. Still 2133MHz.

I have never seen DDR3 667MHz (effective speed) RAM. The lowest I've seen is 1066MHz -- 800MHz is SUPER rare.
