Surround setup questions.

Go to solution Solved by Prastupok,

So, with tax returns coming up, I'm considering ordering 2 more of the monitor I just got in anticipation of games like star citizen and elite dangerous (which I am probably going to buy with the tax returns as well).

My questions are, can I do this with this (these?) monitors, and can I do it with my specific graphics card. Also, what will I need cable wise to hook this up. And should I consider getting a second 970 (even though I would slightly hate myself for doing so) for this?

I am not planning on buying a mounting solution because my desk is large enough to have 3 monitors sitting on.

Any input welcome. Just though I would consider it, since it looks like it could be really fun for space games.

Edit: I did google around a bit about this, but I figured I would ask to get my specific questions answered.

My Monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236102

My GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121899

Those monitors will be just fine for running surround.

Also, an extra 970 would definitely be beneficial to make sure you're getting the smoothest experience possible.

Trik'Stari You can run 2 off of DVI, and one more off of Displayport.

If you are considering to play games on it with surround enabled then i would go with a second GPU, it also depends on the games you play.
You may have to put the graphics settings down with one GPU.

Additional savings w/ promo code EMCANAS29, ends 2/11

Go for it fast  ;)

Don't tell me, tell the Government to get my money here fast lol

You can do surround, JayzTwoCents had 780's in 5760x1080. Oh and, you shouldn't need another 970.

Thanks for the input. Do I need to worry about adapters or anything? The only regret I have is that the speakers on this monitor suck, guess I'll be moving my surround sound system back to this room lol.

just get a 34" 21:9 and be done with it... spend more time enjoying yourself instead of dealing with bezels and shit...

wait for the freesync/gsync ones coming in the next months and later this year tho

ALL games are godlike fun on 21:9, not just space games btw

Maybe DP to DVI. It should be in the box.

I thought about that, but it just seems like 3 monitors would be better. More of a surround feeling instead of just 1 large monitor in front of me.

If I remember correctly it only came with DVI to...that old one that monitors used to us. (VGA?)

Then picking up a miniDP to DVI adapter is a must.

Why miniDP? I thought this GPU had a single actual DP output. Also, does it matter that one of the DVI ports is a dual link DVI port and not single link?

Correction, it has (from looking some things up) a DL-DVI-I and a DL-DVI-D connectors.

I meant regular DP, sorry. and it shouldn't. Regular DVI is enough for 1080p

I know. but if I need a cable for each monitor, won't I need a DVI-D, DVI-I, and DP to DVI-D cables? The monitor as far as I know only takes DVI-D, VGA, and HDMI

DVI-D, DVI-D, and DP to DVI-D.

Oh. ok, that makes sense. Don't know why I thought the DVI-D wouldn't fit a DVI-I plug.

Edit: Damn, if I miss out on the monitors at this price, I'm gonna be pissed.

Edit the second: DAMNIT. I am gonna miss out. Guess I'll have to wait for it to come back around *sigh*
