build list, thoughts?

Go to solution Solved by Prastupok,

agree, but let's say i wait a month, and then i see what more i can get if i wait another month and if that goes on i will never get a pc haha

I'm not saying wait forever. That isn't the point. But you're young, and you shouldn't be in a rush to spend money. That's what we all have to do as adults. We even save for things we want. I was saving for a gaming rig, but priorities come first.

All I'm saying is wait a little bit so you can get something you'll actually enjoy, and not regret.

And no, that is my work computer. @camiel00

so what do you guys think?

Avoid an AMD CPU if at all possible...

@camiel00

but that's your opinion right? Lots of people recommend them if you don't have a lot of money too spend. For instance, i would never be able to buy an intel cpu that would perform like this amd one

yes you would, you can get an i5 4460 without a aftermarket cooler and a cheaper motherboard and crush the fx 6300.

Is silence a big thing for you? If so, sometimes cases come with poop-pancakes quality case fans. Than get Be Quiet! or Noctua case fans.

Also, what games do you want to run, or what tasks do you want to do?

+ good choice on RAM speed and latency!

AMD is not my favorite company either, but they are just a budget thing. I do recommend upgrading sometime, but it will fit for some time.

i don't really agree with that, because if i would remove the cooler from this list (which would make it fair) the fx6300 will win i think, especially after overclocking it, something the 'not-really-high-end' intel cpu's can't do.

I would avoid them at all costs honestly. Any Intel with the exception of some i3s can perform better than that one.

If you can't afford it for now, save. You can wait a few more weeks/months and have a much better system that won't be bottlenecked.

It isn't just my opinion. Intel beats AMD where power, heat, and power consumption are concerned. The only thing AMD Cpus have are their price.

Intel at almost any level, save for some dual core i3s... will absolutely destroy the AMD chips in both synthetic benchmarks and in real world usage.

upgrading it whenever i have money to an i5 4690k and asus ranger mobo is definitely on my list.

and yes, i planned on buying 3 nf-f12's for silence. if i had a little more money to spend i might also buy a more silent psu like the be quiet! straight power 10 (non modular version), that one looks nice and teksyndicate had a pretty nice review about it.

Just make sure that you save sometimes @camiel00 .

For example if you can get a better CPU/GPU for just € 20 more than just do it.

If your upgrade would cost 200 or more i would understand that you go with an alternative :P

@camiel00

As someone who spends an absurd amount on equipment every year, be it for work or for home, let me give you some insight...

Every penny counts. Just because you have money DOESN'T mean you have to spend it. Most of what I buy isn't for a gaming rig, but for reinvesting in how much I can streamline my workflow.

Save an extra month and you'd be amazed at just how big a difference it makes.

Maybe some day you'll have a company to subsidize your purchases... but for now, save money.

If you don't need the extra two cores I'd recommend either an AMD A10-7850K or Intel i5 4460. If you go with the A10 I'd recommend that you don't get like a GTX 970 but rather an R7 250 to run the A10 in dual graphics or two R9 280s.
I too am 15 and I was originally going to hold out and save up almost US$5,000 for an okay X99 build but I've cut it down by almost $1,000 by simply removing the curved LG monitor and going with a cheaper Dell monitor so now I'm also getting a more beefy CPU from X99 (i7 5960X instead of 5820K). Though if say I end up killing my laptop in the process of making it an AiO and I would probably dump my X99 content creation build and go for an AMD A10 7850K just because it gives you a very good CPU for what it cost.

@camiel00 , here's just some useful advice:

ALWAYS. I mean ALWAYS, check the alternatives.

I'm planning on building a rig, and once I had everything planned out, I switched the following cause there were better + cheaper things:

  • Mobo
  • CPU cooler
  • RAM
  • Graphics Card
  • CPU

Yes. all had better options than I originally had. I've been doing research since November about computer hardware and I'll tell you, that you need to make sure to rethink EVERYTHING when buying a computer. Good luck with it!

Basic guide to CPU's!
