Chrome CPU usage?

why does Chrome take much much more CPU usage then Internet Explorer and Firefox for video playback such as Flash and HTML5?

      CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.8GHz Moherboard: MSI Z97 SLI Krait Edition Memory: HyperX FURY White 24GB DDR3 1866MHz GPU: Asus GTX 970 Turbo

It does? I had no idea, but I do know it eats ram like a hungry hippo.

yes it does it has used over 4 gigs for 2 tabs before.

I know, it's been making me think of either using firefox or just getting more ram. I haven't noticed cpu usage impact however, what cpu do you have?

Welcome to the land of Chrome. I forgot what it was, but they did something to squeeze as much performance out of it as they could, but this resulted in lower battery life and more CPU hogging.

I've noticed it on my G2030 like i can play a 1080p YouTube video on Chrome and it take like 95% CPU usage and on Internet Explorer i can play A 4K video it only takes like 75% CPU usage

I don't think it really matters. Even a Q6600 kinda gets used up by Chrome a lot.

Come on Terry, it's a Q6600. That's like saying the E7xxx's in our iMac's at school have trouble rendering. Which they do.

Chrome is a major RAM hog. The only tab I have open right now is this page and I have hangouts running and it is using 3 GB. But I don't mind. I have 32 GB in my system :P But I could see this being a major problem for people with lower end systems. As for CPU usage, Chrome uses almost none for me, but I have all of the gpu acceleration flags enabled, so that probably takes the load off of it a bit.

Problem with chrome is it loads ALL tabs upon starting up, firefox only loads tabs that you select for viewing which makes more sense!

g2030 might be part of the problem, you can't get a whole lot lower than that xD. But even then it shouldn't use 95% usage. And you shouldn't be using youtube at a higher resolution than your monitor anyway. It's not like SSAA lol

But my point is it shouldn't be using that much. same with 60fps videos on Chrome i try to play a 1080p 60FPS video and it lags but on Internet Explorer it doesn't drop a frame.

oh yeah it's not like SSAA, but the bit rate is higher. so it makes it look nicer BTW

I have no idea why it does that, but it seems to stop when I minimize it, at least that's what my cpu fan does, it ramps up when I'm using it but when I minimize it it slows down lol.
