Supreme FX vs Xonar D1

Recently my Xonar D1 died and I was considering getting a Asus hero board. It has a claim of high quality audio and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with it, or knows of the quality.

This is actually a Realtek ALC1150 chip, which is actually a very good onboard solution with a 1.1 VRMS maximum output and 2 Ohm output impedance.  It doesn't get terribly loud, but for low impedance headsets it's more than sufficient.  If you want a pair of high impedance studio monitors later, you'll probably want a usb AMP/DAC of some sort, but for what you probably want to use it for (games), it's fine.

 

Why rebrand the Realtek chip?  Have you seen the posts on this board lately?

Good onboard solution only goes so far......dedicated soundcard will always be better.....biggest difference noticable if listening to good quality source (flac,waw....) !

Nope, unless you have high impedance headphones
