Defrag Virtual Hard-Drive?

I have had my ProxMox virtual host running for several months now, it hosts a variety of OS's including Windows Server.

I just thought that i had never defragmented the hard drive. Which brought up the question, should i defrag a virtual hard drive at all?

If i defragmented on the host, that likely wouldnt affect the VM. If i did it inside the VM, it might make things worse while trying to make things better.

What does the community think?

that is not how a virtual machine works, it creates 1 file which everything saves too. defragment it will make no speed difference but shouldn't mess things up if you did do it
