ok so yesterday i was playing BF hardline with my new r9 290x - but kept getting smal fps once in a while with ultra settings , i went out to close down som programs , i noticed i used about 6gb of my 8gb of ram.

after i had closed skype and chrome and got down to a ram usage of 5gb i had no problems what so ever.

i just have 2 cheap 4gb sticks of crucial 1333 mhz .

should i consider upgrading with either 2 4gb sticks more or just totally replace the old ones with some hyperx fury or something?.

No, it must be something else causing it. I have a 280x, A8 5600k, and 8gb RAM and I get around 60fps on BF Hardline..

Hm , im running a  i7 2700k.

it couldnt be the HDD could it ? - shouldnt affect a whole lot when the game is loaded ?

i could try to go and do a clean windows install

Plain 8? Try upgrading to 8.1, as far as I recall, 8 had some absolutely stupid memory leaks going on..and I have experienced them with my old PC in 8. I've experienced leaks in 8.1 as well, but it was from the Killer NIC.

Check task manager and acces this tab:

If you have something similar in the non-paged pool area..then you've got a mem leak.
