Hey,

I am planning on upgrade to a x99 system soonish this year (when memories drop a little in price),but I need help deciding my motherboard because I have absolutely no idea. In my last built I went cheap on the motherboard and now I regreat it because I have a 3550K and a motherboard that can't overclock sooo... yeah.

I have currently have set in for this specs

  • Processor: Intel i7 5820K[1]

  • 16GB of DDR4 Memory

  • Case: Phantom 410 (from actual Build)

  • Heatsink: NH-D15 (from actual Build)

  • PSU: Corsair TX-650 (from actual Build)

  • VGA: Not decided gonna wait for what AMD has comming or settle for a GTX 970

  • Motherboard: I have a few options:

Some more info:

I live in Brazil so I used a website from here to give perspective on price, the ratio from dolar to Reais is now 1 US Dollar equals 2.74 Brazilian Real.

I can't really say anything about the rest of the mother boards, but I'm rocking the Asus deluxe in my personal build and have had no problems and plenty of success with it. I absolutely LOVE it. I think whichever way you go, you're going to be getting a great motherboard. Just my two cents (which really may not be worth two cents).

Not necessarily true: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f43000c15q16grbb

Depends on the kit you're looking into buying.

I'm extremely happy with my X99-Deluxe, but if you don't need the features the X99-A is a good alternative. If you plan on OCing ASUS is the way to go (OC socket), although Gigabyte's SOC champ/force seem to be doing decently well.

As of right now I think Asus Has the best boards for x99.

Pick any asus board and you cant go wrong

@runit3 I dont think the soc force champ is available yet?

gigabytes bios seems to have failed across the entire lineup.

9 reviews on the force, none of them particularly amazing, but thought they would be worth a mention as it's really the only other choice besides ASUS for an OC soc....unless you feel like customizing your socket, a la potato.

Dont get the force. The bios is garbage. I have it

I am planning on a kit like this one, but here in Brazil they cost around 800 dollars at 2600MHz .

I plan on OCing I have never actually done any OC on a CPU and my GPU is not really good for this. But I meses around the GPU and I will learn how to OC on the CPU.

:o G.Skill also has some DDR4 value RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231781 might shave off a couple hundred real. You're likely not going to see any performance improvement between JEDEC 2133 and 2600. Just go for the cheapest kit in the capacity you need.

OCing on the CPU is entirely different from OCing a GPU. Knowing how to OC a GPU is not going to help you OC a CPU, and vice versa. X99 is only slightly more complicated from OCing on Z97/87, and in reality  if you're sticking to JEDEC speeds you would only need to change vcore and core multiplier to get a somewhat respectable OC.

If you've never OC'd before I would actually recommend a cheaper 2133 JEDEC kit, some XMP settings on higher speed RAM requires a BCLK of 125, which will add complexity to your OCing experience. If you really wanted to get into OCing you could manually attempt to OC your RAM after you found a stable CPU clock.

I do know the basics of OCing, but since I made the mistake of buying the wrong motherboard for my build I have never actually did it, I thinks I would be better learning a little bit more from reading and then just try it out.

I do not plan on OC the RAM since it looks alot more complicated,  from what I heard they can work  fine with a OC for a lot of time and then for no reason stop working after a few more minutes ( I would guess its due to the way RAM is used/allocated will read about it).

I don't know about the part of saving a litte bit on the modules, since here there's not a big difference, e.g. last time I went to look for RAM modules for DDR3 the difference between a Corsair Vengeance module and a random module with no heatsinnk and lower speed was less then 10 US dollars.

I am now thinking about importing the RAM's is there any website that ships internationally?
