Skyrim mods! Which ones? So many!

Today, i joined the real master race and decided to try to get some skyrim mods! but i got stumped, some wont install and i dont know which ones are shit and which ones will change my life! Im looking at texture mods mainly right now. I alreaxdy downloaded some and im afraid that if i download more they wont work im realyy confused pleaze halp! Also i cant get any mods to install onto my 1tb drive unless i install through steam.

I'd go for the Static Mesh Improvement series maybe the Skyrim 2K Textures, and the Cities Enhanced series?

 

Then things like Enhanced Distant Terrain, and HQ Plants. Then the Flora Overhaul series?

I already downloaded the Mesh ones but i keep getting a error when trying to boot them

Have you installed skse? Were you using the skyrim launcher to manage your mods?

Jk, I would start with the water mod, Pure Waters, 2K textures, just activate them anyway if the error thingy comes up, then the fire mod, forgot it's name. Enhanced cities and sounds of skyrim and maybe birds of skyrim

There are way more that I have but can't look into it now.

Watch A Beginner's Guide to Modding Skyrim by Gopher if you haven't already.  It's a great place to get your bearings as a mod user.  If you decide to NMM isn't good enough, Gopher also has a set of videos on Mod Organizer, a very powerful mod manager.
