I have a "CPU Fan Error!" and I want to fix it because its really annoying. I looked around on the internet, and it said that I need to enter my BIOS settings to change the fan speed, but whenever I press F2, Delete, or F12 it takes me to some windows advanced startup options instead. Please help, even if fixing the CPU fan error does not involve BIOS I still want to enter BIOS. Thanks!

Make sure your CPU fan is plugged in to the CPU Fan Header. If you're like me, and you're explicitly not using it, in your BIOS, under your Monitor, you should be able to set it to Ignore the CPU fan header, and be just fine. Mash the Del button as soon as you power on your PC, until you land in your BIOS. What board do you have?

For anyone to help you, you need to be much more specific.

First, please list the specs of your computer, including the Make and Model Number of your Motherboard.

Edit: @NonaHexa The "Del" key may not get him into the bios. It depends on the make and model of motherboard, or what OEM vendor it is.

Mhm. It's the usual standard though, but to be sure, that's why I asked what board he has.

I would not call it the usual standard. I would say more PC's actually use "F2" to enter the bios, compared to "Del". I don't have any statistics to back that up though.

Remember, custom built PC's, with ASUS, MSI, etc, motherboards, are by far the minority, when looking at computers. Most computers are OEM Prebuilts like Dell and HP. It might be more common for custom build motherboards to use "Del" (which I don't even know if this is true or not), but that does not extend into the whole computer ecosystem.

In reality, it's probably 49/49 F2/Del, with 2% being a weird combination (Like Alt+F12, etc).

some OEM vendors do not allow you to go into bios, just tossing this out there in case thats the issue

True, but most still do. It'll depend on the make and model certainly.

how about F2, alt+f12, waiting 10 seconds, del and selecting bios from a menu (not making this up actually...)

lol I believe you. I worked as a Computer Tech for Staples for several years, and we saw a few rare ones similar to that from time to time!
