Hey there all!

So im building a Gaming PC soon but still need to find a good GPU. I am mainly going to use my PC for Streaming and Gaming. I need to know what GPU is the best for these tasks. I am aware that AMD cards run hotter and louder? (i think). The card i was thinking of getting is either the Gigabyte GTX 960 2gb or the Gigabyte R9 280X 3gb. If you have any suggestions on what is better or a better alternative then feel free to comment.

Thanks Guys!!

"Best GPU" for what budget? Between the ones you suggested, the R9 280X is faster; the GTX 960 being closer in performance to an R9 280 or R9 285.

AMD cards not unreasonably hot or loud, it's just that Nvidia has been releasing some ultra low-power products lately. Everything is relative. If this card is going inside an ordinary desktop case with a proper power supply and reasonable case cooling, power consumption is not going to be a serious consideration.

If you live in the US you can get a R9 290 for cheaper than the cheapest 280x, which will destroy the 960. Otherwise a 280x is still better than a 960 (10% more performance, 50% more vram) unless you really want Shadowplay.

RIP in pepperonis m8s

You can't have both, I'm afraid. Shadowplay really isn't anything that special. It's biggest benefit is convenience. Dxtory and OBS are popular, platform-agnostic, and will provide superior recording quality.

So should i get a r9 285, r9 280x or r9 290?

Again, how much do you want to spend? Without a budget in mind, "the best GPU" is generally going to be the most expensive. "The best GPU for $xxx" is going to get you much more useful information.

Obviously the R9 290 is the fastest of those three. If you can afford to fit it into your build, it's a great choice.
