Ok so is an ssd just an ssd or are some alot better than others? I mean company wise is patriot going to be better than corsair or vice versa? Also is samsung only really good because they make all the components of the ssd themselves or is there some other reason? When buying an ssd what should you look for?

The controller may be better on certain SSDs, and the memory chips may be better. And no. Intel also makes solid SSDs - one of the most reliable SSD makers on the market.

I completely disagree with you. I think Samsung is the better SSD maker due to their reliability and performance.

I said "one of the most reliable." I did not say "the most reliable."

I seem to see alot of Corsair SSDs having problems but with firmware updates they seem to be better. I would get a Samsung 840 as your SSD because they are cheap and they makes their own chips so they leave the best chips for themselves. Here is a video about Samsung's chips:

I disagree, Intel SSDs are by far more reliable than Samsung then Samsungs SSDs. Samsung aims at the mass market, so they DO cheap out on stuff to stay competitive. Performance is a whole other thing, I'm not giving my opinion of that, look for some benchmarks if you want those.
