I know I probably look stupid asking this but does freesync work with any monitor that has display port 1.2 or above, or do you have to buy one of the "special" freesync monitors to use it? and also is freesync even released yet?

i needs to have displayport 1.2a or above, but it does not need to be freesync certified

as long as it has DP 1.2a and up it will automatically support adaptive sync, it just wont be AMD "certified"

Does your graphics card support Freesync? Not all of them do

i am about to do a build and get an r9 290x because of the huge price drops recently.
