Would this laptop be any good for Civ 5? and War Thunder?

My friend's parents just got him this and he was wondering if it will run any games? He is a big Civ fan so as long as it runs that at least he will be happy. I thought it could because it has a GT820M and I know its not the most powerful GPU in the world but its not too bad for just a normal laptop. any ideas?

I believe the GPU will be fine with settings turned down. What's worrying to me is the single-core performance. Civ5 needs strong single core performance, and that laptop CPU has drastically downclocked CPU speeds which will hurt whenever the computers are taking their turns.

By any chance would the following be something that interests you:

I have a laptop with i5 2430m, GT 555m. Screen is 1600x900 and I can't turn all the details up.

The i5-4210u has a lower clock, but then being a haswell maybe clock-for-clock it would be similar to the 2430m? In that case, you'd run into a lot of waiting between turns late game. I could click on end turn and go grab a drink in really big games.

Graphic wise it should be okay, on paper the 820m seems a little less powerful than the old 555m, but at 1366x768 it should do better compare to 1600x900. FPS doesn't seems all that important on games like civ 5, at least it doesn't bother me. I'm perfectly happy running it at 20+ fps.
