OP sorry you have a 290 and a 6100?

Coundlt understand your post honestly.

I like your 970 in a nutshell analogy but I love lukes version: Say you buy a box of cookies but 1/8 of the cookies are 1/7 the size of the others but you're not expected to finish the first 7/8 cause they're so rich and delicious

Yeah I loved lukes analogy as well.

I didn't understand why people were so up in arms about the 970 vram issue until he explained it in cookies, I love cookes and would be pissed if I got a box of them where 1/8 of the cookies are 1/7 the size

An i5 would be a nice upgrade. I would get one of these combinations for a pretty low budget.

I assume you mean this one? I wouldn't pay the extra money for that, you can get one just as good for less and get a cheap wifi card.

One that is for the Z97 chipset and one I can overclock

Then the 4690k.

Aren't all cpus compatible with all chipsets, its the socket that is different last time I knew

Only the 4690k can overclock. Also haswell refresh CPUs aren't guarantied to work with an original haswell boards (though almost all of them will by now).

punctuation is nice

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

THE INFORMATION GUIDES: SLI INFORMATION || vRAM INFORMATION || MOBILE i7 CPU INFORMATION || Maybe more someday

the FX6100 is absolutely no match for an R9 290 GPU...your card is twice as strong as you think it is, once you'll upgrade to a proper CPU for it you'll be blown away..get an i5 or i7 ASAP.
