Hello guys,

I have the problem i have two GTX 970 from MSI 4G (both are from the same manufactory)
I actually cant Enable SLI, cause its not shown in the Nvidia Driver Settings, where it should have been.

I'M using Windows 8.1 and my mainboard is from MSI Z87-G45 Gaming, The slots are okay and both cards work as i tried both, GPU Z is also showing me both cards, even the nvidia driver shows me both cards but it doesnt let me SLI them.

When i game one card is used to 60-70% and the other is doing nothing, just having its lowest clock from 130 MHz or something like that,
I reinstalled the driver many times, i reseteded the bios, checked for bios updates but theres no problem i guess.

I can even controll both LED Visualizer from both Cards

Please help me fast, im in trouble, i was working on it since hours, all night long

Greetings Azsheran

did you set the SLi profiles for the games?

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

unlikely

but no harm trying by removing the SSD

Is your pcie ssd a x1? If it is pcie x1, then you can put it on any slot......oh I see the problem. SLI requires x8 x8, but with the ssd, it becomes x8 x4 x4 even though that is x16 x8 x8 in pcie2. nVidia and their silly SLI requirements that Linus kinda ranted about.

So my budget is currently 0, i would go for an upgrade in the coming months, 2 or 3 months till i have the money for it, I still ahve another sata SSD but the Raidr was just something special, and yes my ssd is such one which needs a Pcie 3.0 the funny thing is my mainboard runs at 8/4/2 when i put everything in, and sli cant be used, very sad, and much more sad that my better system which was more optimized, is on the Raidr :(

i will safe the raidr for using it later again on another board :3

That's not true, I've run SLI with a sound card and another low end GPU for monitors just fine with a Sabertooth and an i5. Soundcard was PCIe x1 and the low end card was a GT 610.

But you didn't run it in sli that's the difference

it because of the SSD on the 3rd PCI-E slot

the bandwidth becomes x8x4x4

SLi need x8x8

Dragoon200005.

Thanks for your help, I know now that this was the point where the issue came from, I already planned for a system upgrade which I anyway wanted to do sometimes. I'm going for an Asus Rampage V Extreme (socket 2011) with an i7 4930K with 40 lanes so I can have 16/16/8 configuration or would you prefer something else??

i say save up for X99 instead of picking the X79

the X79 is a much old platform than your Z97

or

if you want to keep your current CPU and RAM

you just need to swap to better boards with more PCI-E slots like the Asus Maximus 7 Formula

But my cpu will still throttle my lanes or doesn't it?

I only wanted to safe the ram cause it is not that old, a few months only but I also was thinking about X99 but it costs me about 400 bucks more

But the x99 has a much more beautiful boards than the x79 like the rampage extreme IV black edition but the rampage V looks better has more features and it matches more to my colour scheme of my built

A 4930K would cost me 499 Euro and the board 430 Euro, I would sell my old cpu and board and h110 from corsair as good as I can and safe my corsair dominator 2133 CL9 kit (Quad Channel /4*4GB)

So this would cost me 930euro

The 5930k costs 600 Euro and the Mainboard 440 plus the ran which costs me about 400 Euro

So that are 1440 Euro

So 1440-930=510 Euro difference so I'm not sure if I really should go for DDR4 Dominator ram and a X99 board :/
