BSOD, Caused by SSD?

Go to solution Solved by ApolloX75,

Ive done a tonne of cleaning through CCleaner lately. As for graphics drivers, check this out:

cde19c2870.PNG

What im wondering is whether or not there are conflicting drivers there or not

Check temperatures? Dells are notorious for overheating especially when they hit a few years of constant service.

Opening the bottom up and cleaning the cobwebs out; if you haven't already, might help.

Also it doesn't show service pack 1 in your captures. Have you thoroughly updated windows?

Hi

My Dell Vostro 3700 (I know its very old, and a very cruddy* laptop) has recently been giving me one up to 5 BSOD's a day. I have no idea why it is happening so many times now, but its recently started happening on my new Kingston SSDNow v300 120gb SSD. It has happened many times before as well, but i have absolutely no clue what is causing it, and Microsoft's forums just keeps redirecting and redirecting me to "Fix"s that lead to absolutely nowhere. Here is a log i have of the very most recent BSOD:

The laptop is currently not running a version of windows 7 that i have on my dedicated boot memory stick but rather the CD version that i got with the laptop - Just incase anyone is wondering ^. I have not tampered with any of the windows files since except for the Explorerframe.dll, but i have recently also changed it back to the original backup i had of it.

If someone could help me out to find the cause or evens fix this, I'd appreciate it very much.

Thanks in advance

Try updating your ssd firmware

Well, that was stupid of me. Didnt notice that my SSD evens had firmware available for it. There wasnt a notice or sticker on package nor did it give any errors on startup. Just took it as plug and play i guess. Downloading firmware now and will give feedback during the day

I used to only get one once or twice a month before but yesterday i got 4 in one night and was quite pissed off, just left the laptop to cool down. Got one again this morning. Now that ive got the Firmware, we would be able to tell whether or not its the SSD

Update your BIOS

Update your Graphics Card drivers

Update all drivers on the system

An exception happened while executing a routine that transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code.

This bugcheck is generally related to a video driver issue, however it could also be caused by buggy antivirus software OR faulty memory.

Have you consider to do a clean windows install on the SSD,I recently upgrade my old pc to a ssd,and I was too lazy to do a clean install rather than just copy the old hdd to ssd,and it booted successfully but few seconds later...crazy BSOD pops up..one by one...BSOD no longer exist after I done a Clean OS install.

Oh..and you better check your windows install cd or flash drive's files,if it's corrupted.Corrupted OS files might cause BSOD too.

Sofar both my CD version of windows 7 Pro 64 bit (Legit copy) was installed on my current SSD since its beginning and this has been happening. On my previous temporary HDD i had in there, i installed Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit via USB (Online copy) through ISO to USB. During both instances, both the CD and USB boot, the laptop has been giving these BSOD's, evens before the SSD i guess. If it is hardware related, i do have full access to opening up the laptop and reaching the bare-bones of the laptop if it is necessary.

EDIT:

I have also not been getting as much BSOD's as i did before the graphics driver update, but i still get roughly one or two a day, and it happens at the very worst of times, like when im writing a thousand word essay or an oral for school or something.

BCCode: 3b is a code for driver failure this can be coused by your graficcards driver your antivirus and wrong Windows service pack or none at all.

sometimes its becouse of user-mode graphics drivers crossing over and passing bad data to the kernel code

and finally it could also be a registry error this can be fixed using CCleaner

Check temperatures? Dells are notorious for overheating especially when they hit a few years of constant service.

Opening the bottom up and cleaning the cobwebs out; if you haven't already, might help.

Also it doesn't show service pack 1 in your captures. Have you thoroughly updated windows?

Yes my laptop was very well known for its overheating, especially around the extractor fan. Since i've gotten the knowledge of how to fully disassemble the entire laptop right to the mainboard i've been cleaning the fan and fins regularly aswell as replacing the thermal paste every 4-5 months.

Starting windows updater as we speak too. I turned it off for a while because its updates are really annoying and oddly timed
