Are socket FM2 or FM2+ processors still worth buying, despite their aging? I'm thinking of upgrading my worn out old A8 chip that came out of an HP that I bought like two years ago...I'm considering an Athlon.

the athlon 760k and 860k are phenomenal values for the money.  pair them with a 212 evo and overclock them for a perfect cpu for a 270/750ti

@FairladyZ

which A8 is that? If it's overclockable it should last you for a few more years... else the Athlon 760k/860k or the A10 7850k would be the next logical step... but they're not that good upgrades if you're coming from an A8 since their performance is within 10% of each other...

Please don't put the 270 and 750Ti in the same performance bracket... the 750Ti is closer to a 250X/260...

I thought about switching to an Intel processor, but I decided not to, because they're so crazy expensive, and I'm not looking forward to a mobo swap -- especially since I did one less than two weeks ago. And Intel processors never appealed to me, since I've tried them many times and have received my fair share of defective products.

turbo is irrelevant unless you run at stock

I do run at stock Edit: Wait wait wait, does overclocking disable turbo boost?

if you do overclock its suggested you disable turbo core as it can draw unsteady voltage spikes

Ah, yeah I'll be running stock. I don't have money for a better cooler and its already warm enough in my room in the summer

I'd still suggest the 860k over the 760k :D

I am buying the 860k now. Its better and I am so happy I found out about it before I spend the money on the 760K
