can my HX1000i Handle 3 780ti's?

mrbulle

i am about to add a 3rd 780ti to my x99 system..

used the extreme outervision calc and it said recommended watts was 997.. but that was with a 4960x overclocked in the options since there isn't a 5960x option yet on Cpu..

Any comments ??

I'd say no, upgrade your PSU, if that's not too much of a deal

Specs: CPU: AMD FX 6300 Motherboard: Gigabyte 970A DS3P RAM: HyperX Fury 16GB 1866MHz GPU: MSI R9 270 OC edition Case: Sharkoon VS3-S SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB HDD: 1TB Caviar Blue PSU: Corsair CX500W

*If I say something that seems offensive, please don't take it seriously, it was most likely meant as a joke/sarcastically*

Well

3x 780Ti (250W) = 750W

5960X = 140W

CPUs and GPUs alone at stock = 890W

Add in an overclock and other system components and you'll be very close to 1000W. I wouldn't do it for the sake of reliability. Consider getting a 1200W PSU if you really want a 3rd GPU, but consider that 3+ GPU scaling sucks.

^ This. Unless you were running like a 80+ Platinum PSU from a trusted company... But then you'd be better off with like a 1200W 80+ Gold PSU from a trusted company.

Edit: Had a bit of a high wattage recommendation. My bad.

At all of you:

Linuis did a dual 780Ti PC build with overclocks and it had 625W draw on a synthetic test. A 1000W PSU should be fine

1500W is a bit much. 1200-1300 would be perfect.

Okay? Believe it or not some games can actually cause more power draw then during synthetic tests, especially if the synthetic test stresses only the GPU(s) and not much of the CPU, because newer games stress both. Assume 250W for another overclocked 780Ti, 625+250=875, still higher then what I'd want to pull from an HX1000i and not to mention that in actual demanding stuff that number can go over 900 easily

True. It was kind of the first thing that popped into my head... I'll edit it to 1200W. :P

Really good imo as well. EVGA generally sells PSUs for very low prices for how high quality they are. Well... Superflower PSUs with a new shell. :D

No sadly Corsair and EVGA use different cables http://cablemod.com/compatibility/

Not their fault, but because HX is made by CWT whereas G2 is made by Super Flower. You can see some XFX's that use the same cables as Seasonic because they're also made by Seasonic

Had a look on a pic of the plugs one Evga and the plugs on gpu and periphs is the same but not the 24 pin cable.. maybe its only 24 pin that is different
