i currently have a motherboard and it has a pcie 16 lane and when you put dual cards they run at x4, i am losing performance when i crossfire. if i were to upgrade my motherboard to dual x16 slots, would i see the improvements? if so, how much?

As you've identified you have a 2.0 16x to the CPU and a 2.0 4x to the chipset, in terms of upgrading to a new motherboard I wouldn't. What GPU are you going to be crossfiring? Odds are you'll run into a bottleneck on the FX platform due to CPU performance.
